Raw Video: Inside a Pirate Assault
2009-05-07
In Senate testimony yesterday, Philip Shapiro, the president and CEO of Liberty Maritime, the owner of the Liberty Sun, made a plea for Congress to change laws so private shipping companies could arm themselves. Recent pirate attacks, he said, were a "game changer." And he said the government needed to provide onboard security teams in high-threat shipping lanes while the laws are being changed.

I sudddenly have a taste for the open seas.

#2  You know I just do not get it. The video shows a motorized canoe carrying a bunch of malnourished africans. How can they hold a tanker hostage?

#1  I know (3rd hand) of a man who owns a sailing yatch and has a .30bmg, when I heard of him I was sitting and talking with a friend who deals in arms and ammo, he got a call from the guy wanting to buy 3000 rounds of 30 cal on belts, Seems he had run into 3 boatloads of pirates in the carribean, and sank all 3, but when the last bad guy went down he only had 50 rounds left, as he normaly carried 2000 rounds, he was now getting 3000.

Never met him, but I like him.
