Wind farm firm to add 100 jobs with $400,000 tax credit |
2009-05-29 |
An Ohio company transforming its business model will build its headquarters in the town of Greenville. LAH Development will become a wind turbine manufacturer and installer after years of constructing commercial buildings. The company's new building is expected to cost $1 million, CNN affiliate WHIO-TV in Dayton reported. The state of Ohio has granted the company a tax credit of almost $400,000 to help create jobs. The company expects to hire 100 new employees. Under an agreement with the state, the company is required to operate at the new site for 12 years. |

#4 The "Capitalist" is the taxpayer w/ a $.03/kWh subsidy. A 2MW turbine operating at 30% efficiency generates 5.3 MWh of electricity. That generates a subsidy $160K/year for the first 5 years (accelerated 5 year depreciation) and $107-133K/year thereafter for every 2MW wind turbine. Take a wind farm w/ 1000 turbines and that's a large chunk of government cheese, even in Obamaland. Plus hidden subsidies because wind must be fully backed up by standby power plants and power transmission cables must be heavier and longer than more predictable thermal power plants. |

#2 $400,000 credit doesn't generate 100 jobs. |
