Snip. Ed Freeman is indeed a hero, but let's not, as the comments note, perpetuate an inaccuracy. This great man died last August.

Indeed. Unfortunately, this true account of his actions has been appended to a number of e-mail legends, often changing the date to contrast Ed's passing with some media outburst about a relatively trivial or frivolous subject. The most recent version contrasts it with the death of Michael Jackson.
