| Mosul mosque blast death toll up to 38, wounded to 90 |

| Aswat al-Iraq: Casualties from Friday's earlier car bomb blast near a Shiite mosque in Mosul rose to 38 deaths and 90 wounded, a Ninewa police source said. "A suicide bomber detonated his explosive vehicle near worshippers who have just getting out of the Shiite mosque of Shrifan in the northern Mosul area of al-Rashidiya, after the congregational Friday prayers, leaving such a large number of casualties," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. Earlier, a security source had told Aswat al-Iraq that the blast left 30 deaths and 70 others wounded. The source had said that the casualties were most likely to rise due to the powerfulness of the explosion that caused severe damage to the surrounding area, and many of the wounded being in a critical condition. |
