#4  If you look at the related film clips, you can see that the crowds are wearing green and are as large as they were right after the elections. It looks like the protest movement is not going away any time soon.

#3  This is very interesting. Back in the time of the Shah, Iran considered itself the southern front line against the Soviet Union, and prided itself that with US training and backing, they could offer some serious damage to the bear. The invasion of Iran by Russia was even seen as a major possible WWIII scenario.

However, going back to the time of the Tsars, Russia had ambitions against Iran, but it was too far, and too ambitious for the Russian army.
