Food running out in Yemen refugee camps

Food is running out for tens of thousands of civilians displaced in weeks of fighting between government forces and Shiite rebels in Yemen's north, a UN spokesman said on Wednesday.
Chedraoui said aid agencies have been unable to deliver a consignment of food to refugees in Baqem because the cargo is still in Saudi Arabia. "The cargo is being held 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the border. The Saudi authorities have given the green light for the cargo to pass to Baqem, but we are still waiting," she said, also urging the kingdom "to open its borders to receive Yemeni refugees". The situation in Saada province is unstable, especially in the areas of Baqem, Al-Maniya and Razah, a military source told AFP. There are also some clashes in the neighbouring province of Amran, where the army is continuing its advance toward rebel positions.
