Colombia Says Venezuelan Soldiers Blew Up 2 Border Bridges |
2009-11-20 |
Venezuelan soldiers blew up two pedestrian bridges across the Colombia-Venezuelan border, Colombia's government said Thursday, according to Reuters. It is the latest incident in what is an already-strained relationship. Colombian Defense Minister Gabriel Silva said explosives were used to blow up the bridges in what he called a violation of international law, Reuters reported. "Uniformed men, apparently from the Venezuelan army, arrived in trucks on the Venezuelan side at two pedestrian bridges that link communities on both sides ... and then proceeded to dynamite them," Silva said, according to Reuters. |

#6 Hooogos boys blew up a couple of wooden footbridges, mainly used for smugling. It was a show boom. As far has military movement by the Bolivarian Armed Farces....no, just no. There's no money in fighting. |

#5 It's a lot harder to hide things when there are eyes and ears in the sky... Surely we're sharing what we see with Columbia. |

#4 Either things are getting Jonestown-weird in Hugograd, or they're preparing battlespace. It's the sort of thing I'd have done if I was trying to hide a logistical buildup, or distract from another one on a different axis. Does anyone know what the current state of mobilization is for the Venezuelan military? |

#3 Hugo needs to isolate his side from both the flow of information among the locales and suppress smuggling. We can't have the poor simply crossing the bridges to get unavailable necessities, that's for the elites to hop on over to another country to do. [read - the new 'Wall'] |

#1 Hey, maybe they were itinerant explosives techs out practicing. Let's not jump to conclusions. |
