#22 And I thought Russian hackers were only a force for evil. Money is neither good nor evil. |

#21 Actually, that torrent might still be working. If this is a fake -- well, I don't believe it's a fake. There's 60 MB of data here, with cell phone numbers, e-mail headers ... If you have stock in a carbon-trading company, well, better start selling short. My research methods course is going to be kick-butt next week ... |

#17 I can't wait to see what Al Gore says about this. "Mr. Doerr, what should I do now? Short?" |

#16 I can't wait to see what Al Gore says about this. My bet is that he will ignore it for as long as he can, or deny it, or blame it on Bush somehow. |

#11 badanov, I think gorb means this "lost data" |
Posted by: tipper 2009-11-20 06:22 |
#10 That's funny, I thought that data was "lost" a little while ago. The original .zip file was taken down a few hours ago from the Russian ftp site where it first appeared. Now, a number of site offer bit torrents of the .zip file They can't unring the bell now. |

#7 I can just see a jilted girlfriend's new cool tech boyfriend hacking into the CRU ftp server to give her some "closure." |

#4 I've got already emails from some people that were non-militant warmist that essentially say "I did bet on the wrong horse" (e.g. AGW). The geenie is out and no one can put it back. |

#2 For those not familiar with this the CRU has been keeping the data and code for their "global warming" calculations under wraps away from peer review. Apparently not so much under wraps now... |

#1 Filed under Lurid Crime Tales. Although it remains to be seen whether the 'lurid crime' is the hacking or the shenanigans at CRU the hacking reveals. |
