Dems say Reid's comments nothing like Lott's |
2010-01-12 |
![]() A double standard? Republicans seeking Sen. Harry Reid's resignation as majority leader over racial remarks he made about Barack Obama say yes - that Reid should be held to the same standard as former GOP Sen. Trent Lott, whose own racial gaffes cost him the Senate leadership in 2002. Democrats say no, that Reid's comments - while unfortunate - were nothing like Lott's. Of course not. Let me count the ways .... 1) Lott was joking. 2) Reid's comments were a Freudian slip, even if well-intentioned. About Nobama and negroes like him. |

#3 The main difference is that Reid has a D after his name. Lott has an R. |

#1 Of course the remarksare different, after all it was HARRY REID, who made the remarks... That makes ALL the difference in the world. Who is Trent Lott, anyway? Some dude with a Southern accent, and therefore racist. |
