2010-01-12
[Dawn] The police and frontier constabulary arrested 30 suspected militants including 10 foreigners during a search operation in DIG Kohat region. Meanwhile, two terrorists surrendered during the operation, DawnNews reported.

The joint operation was carried out by the police elite force and frontier constabulary in the remote areas of Samana, Bagato, Doaba, Serozai, Thall, Mardo Khel Banda and Shahu Khel.

During the operation, two militants -- identified as Naseeb Shah and Sakhi Islam -- who had been involved in kidnappings and IED attacks on security forces, handed themselves over to the police.

They were later shifted to unknown location for interrogation.

Meanwhile, ten Afghan nationals were arrested for travelling without valid documents and identity cards. They had been staying in the Hangu district illegally.

Similarly, 20 other criminals were also nabbed from different parts of the district along with weapons and ammunition. The seizure included four Kalashnikovs, five shot guns, three rifles, eight pistols, 425 cartridges of different bores and three kilograms of hashish.

The police has registered separate cases against them. Further investigation is underway.
