#4 Former child-actress Pamelyn Ferdin grew up to achieve a different kind of status in the celebrity world: as a far-gone crazier-than-PETA animal rights activist. She is president of the US branch of SHAC (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty), a celebrity-based international gang that carries on a long-running campaign of intimidation and harassment against Huntingdon Life Science, Europe's largest contract bio-research firm. None other than the Southern Poverty Law Center has accused SHAC of "frankly terroristic tactics." In this capacity, Ferdin has made overt threats of violence: "[P]eople, I think, are going to get hurt. There's going to be a lot of violence." She has also been arrested and jailed a number of times. |
