2010-05-10 |
[Maghrebia] The alleged leader of al-Qaeda cell "Katibat El Farouk" surrendered to Algerian security services in order to benefit from national reconciliation, Echorouk reported on Saturday (May 8th). The man reportedly provided information that led to arrests in Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira. The "El Farouk" cell claimed responsibility for kidnapping an 80-year-old man in the Tizi-Ouzou town of Boghni last March. Pressure from local residents force the group to free the hostage a week later. |
