Boumerdes citizens rally against terrorism |
2010-05-26 |
[Maghrebia] Algerian citizens held a protest on Monday (May 24th) outside the Baghlia town hall to protest increased terrorism in the Boumerdes region, Liberte reported. The town was also brought to a standstill by a general strike held to demand the release of a young farmer kidnapped in early May. The protestors denounced the deaths of civilians and soldiers in recent Boumerdes bomb attacks, while a delegation of farmers and property owners from the Baghlia region met with regional authorities to demand better security. The local APC vice-president told El Khabar that "the population of Baghlia no longer fears the terrorists, and are behind the security authorities in their fight against terrorism". |
