Obama tells Kyl in private Oval Office meeting: I won't secure border
2010-06-20
Yes it is from an opinion blog but it links to a youtube of the event.
On June 18, 2010, Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl told the audience at a North Tempe Tea Party town hall meeting that during a private, one-on-one meeting with President Obama in the Oval Office, the President told him, regarding securing the southern border with Mexico, "The problem is, . . . if we secure the border, then you all won't have any reason to support 'comprehensive immigration reform.'" [Audible gasps were heard throughout the audience.] Sen. Kyl continued, "In other words, they're holding it hostage. They don't want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with 'comprehensive immigration reform.'"

Sen. Kyl also said he reminded President Obama that the President and the Congress has an obligation, a duty, to secure the border.
(This part of Sen. Kyl's remarks begins at the 3:17 mark of the video below.)

#23  Why do you think Obummer whats a kill switch for the internet and his FCC wants to regulate it and 'citizen Journalist'? Wasn't there talk about licensing journalists and requiring a 'degree' awhile back? Perhaps a trial balloon.

They know that the blogophere is killing their PRAVDA

#22   I guess the MSM will obscure any atrocity.

They can try, Bright Pebbles. But the blogosphere will spread the story, with photos and video, no doubt. Eventually the legacy media will have to report, because their readers/watchers will demand answers to the questions they were hearing at cocktail parties. That's what happened to the ACORN story, and ACORN was broken up, at least for a while.

#20  Unfortunately I think it'll take more than one AH.

Unfortunately.

I think a lot of people are going to get killed before he's done.

#19  The US is only one domestic atrocity away from turning its attitude around on this issue.

#18  Texas has a State Guard that is of the same caliber as the national guard. It is time Arizona did likewise. It is also time for various states suffering from mediocre or no Federal response to crisis organize. Call iyt "The Coalition of American States".

#17  Ok Kyl and whoever else was there is a witness...

#16  In other words - Barak Obama is wilfully, and with full knowledge, holding the security of the United States of America hostage in order to pass his Amnesty.

This is up and up Treason - and each member of that audience is a witness.

#15  After the 2010 election, let the new Republican Congress pass funding for securing the border. Let Obama veto it over and over again. Then try to explain that during the next presidential campaign.

#14  You are absolutely correct in any sort of title 10 or title 32 federal status. But there is a while other status strictly governed by the state, with no authority for the feds. It's why all Guard officer have two commissions, one from the feds and one from the state.

#13  NoMoreBS is indeed correct in ref to State active duty status, but spare us please. (NoMoreLectures and johnson is longer than your johnson bonifides) Honorable as it is, Guard time don't hold much on this crowd, sorry.

#12  Badanov, you need to learn about the State Active Duty status of all states National Guard before making such a pronouncement

My point is that were Brewer to order the Arizona National Guard to the border, all Obama has to do is to override her since ultimately National Guard units are under the command of the DoD, and thus POTUS.

I don't want to get into a pissing match about the finer points of the National Guard. last I heard SCOTUS ruled years ago that a governor has no say in what the federal government does with National Guard units.

#11  Badanov, you need to learn about the State Active Duty status of all states National Guard before making such a pronouncement. I was a career active Duty BGuard officer, commanded the first California Guard Counter Drug task Force, wrote the use of force policy for the LA riots.

#10  The Arizona Guard would have to be in a State Active Duty status and empowered to enforce the law as a peace officer, and cross sworn by ICE under 267(G) to do immigration enforcement. If the White House wanted to get pissy, they could de-authorize the use of federal equipment (essentially everything) by the AZ Guard in a state status. Finally, coordination with the Customs and Border patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement could be made very problemmatic. Finally, Use of Force policy if they are only acting in state LE status would require the illegals do do some criminal predicate act (besides crossing the line, which isn't a criminal act in state statute) before they could detain and question them, otherwise it would violate the new Az law.
Very messy situation, but lord would it bring national news attention to the mess in AZ.
Recommend doing anything proximate to the section of border with the U.S. Tohono Oohdam reservation which was recently declared off limits to US Cits because of cartel control.

#9   Governor Brewer could throw a monkey wrench into the whole plan by getting the legislature to agree to the idea of sending the AZ National Guard to the border

The Arizona National Guard of a component of the DoD and according to SCOTUS, is not under the command of any of the states. Brewer can no more control the AZ Guard than she can the cartels.

#8  Governor Brewer could throw a monkey wrench into the whole plan by getting the legislature to agree to the idea of sending the AZ National Guard to the border. Illegals would be put in Joe Arpaio tent jails near the border.

If the hole could be plugged for just one month, it would backup the pipes. The cartels are already desperate for money to pay for their war. And as much as the Mexican government is trying to send them North, they will end up with tens of thousands stuck on their side of the border, in the middle of the war.

Push comes to shove.

#7  The current inhabitant of the White House has to go. Whether we can find a way to push him out legally, or whether it takes more stringent action, he cannot be allowed to do any more damage to this nation. Doc Steve can verify that you can do enough injury to a body that it cannot regenerate itself without causing any single mortal injury. This is what Obama is doing to the body of the United States. It MUST be stopped, by whatever means necessary, before he succeeds.

#6  Even if the Republicans went along and supported whatever amnesty/reform bill Barry wants, he and the Democrats wouldn't seal the border. If anything they'd do whatever they could to get more immigrants into the country and on to the voting rolls.

#5  If this is true, does it not reach the level of an impeachable offense? Willful failure to enforce the law and allow ilegal immigration and potential terrorist entry as a matter of policy to create a political bargain?
Can there be a clearer statement that Oblahblah needs to be removed from office for cause?
This is an admission of a conscious failure to discharge his fundamental duty to protect the soverignty of the United States.

#4  The Seven Amnesties Passed by Congress
Since the passing of the Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 6 million illegal aliens have received amnesty in the United States. The IRCA Amnesty was supposed to "wipe the slate clean" and instead it's lead to the current situation of 12-20 million illegal aliens living in the country.
