Nine people killed in Karachi firing incidents

[Dawn] Nine people including two women were killed and several others injured on Tuesday in a fresh wave of killings in Karachi.

Four people were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle in P&T Society in the Korangi industrial area. Police and Rangers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Jinnah Hospital and police officials have started an investigation. All four dead were the members of the JSQM party, sources said.

One man and two women were killed in Shah Latif Town. Police claimed that the deceased was a dacoit and was killed during an encounter, the two women were killed as the result of cross firing.

In Layari, unknown assailants shot dead one person while one man was gunned down in Orangi town.

Separately, three people including a father and son sustained injuries in a firing incident in Surjani Town.

The injured have been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where two people were stated to be in critical condition.
