5 al Qaeda Fighters Die in Yemen |
2010-08-22 |
Yemeni troops have killed five al Qaeda gun-hung tough guys after a string of attacks by hard boyz on security personnel in south Yemen, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday. The five turbans were killed in the restive province of Abyan where suspected al Qaeda gunnies shot dead eight soldiers and set ablaze a military vehicle on Friday, a ministry website said. Most of the assaults since June have been claimed by al Qaeda, which has stepped up attacks on security forces in recent months, marking a shift in tactics for the global bad boy group's Yemen arm, which previously focused on foreign targets. |
