The leader of a psy-ops unit was shot and seriously wounded while visiting a village in southern Thailand on Friday. Capt. Pairat Chedcharoensiri said that Vasutha Pongpatima, 40, was shot while he and three other soldiers walked into a house. A terrorist militant hiding in the house opened fire at him then jumped through a window and fled into the forest. Vasutha was shot in the head.
Terrorists Suspected Islamist militants have shot and killed three people including a teacher in separate attacks across Thailand's jihad-infested restive southern provinces, police said Friday. The 30-year-old teacher, who was also a corporal with the border patrol police, was attacked as he was leaving school on Thursday afternoon.
On the same day a state railway worker was attacked by two gunmen while shopping in a market in the town of Yala. In yet another attack, a village chief was shot in an ambush in Pattani province and died on Thursday evening. |
