Afghan official: Ten Afghan campaign workers killed in NATO airstrike
2010-09-05
Didn't know whether to put this in Operations or Politics . . . .
I agree with Operations. A missile was aimed and fired to kill, even though the targets may have been politically involved.
"Intelligence tracked the insurgents traveling in a sedan on a series of remote roads in Rustaq district. After careful planning to ensure no civilians were present, coalition aircraft conducted a precision airstrike on one sedan and later followed with direct fire from an aerial platform. The vehicle was traveling as part of a six-car convoy, but no other vehicles were hit in the strike."
There seems to be a difference of opinion, but the military is investigating. The way the Taliban work there, perhaps both sides are correct in their assertions.

#1  Everyone must remember.. every time a terrorist is killed he suddenly becomes a civilian and his "mourning relatives" can claim a death benefit from the Coalition forces. And like fools we pay out without fully investigating fully.
This has become a big business in such a poor country.
Especially since the difference between a terrorist and a civilian is a rifle. I also find it quite amazing how accurately we seem only able to hit women, children, wedding parties, and campaign workers.
Never any terrorists.
Simply amazing.
