Danish embassy bombing suspects acquitted

![]() "The court observed that the prosecution failed to prove the charges and acquitted the three accused men," said Senior Prosecutor Muhammad Tayyab. "We will file an appeal in the high court within the 30 days' stipulated period," Tayyab said. Six people were killed and about 27 maimed when the devastating car bomb exploded outside the embassy in June 2008 amidst the usual temper tantrum in the Mohammedan world over the blasphemous cartoons, first printed in Danish newspapers in 2005. So the kaboom was three years after the pictures...
Tayyab said that the prosecution had produced 32 witnesses in court, of whom two "eyewitnesses" testified that they saw suspects Qari Ilyas and Shamsul Haq signalling the suicide boomer towards the target as they sat in a car. He did not speak about the role of the third accused. The three are the only suspects to have been tried over the attack.
