[Pak Daily Times] Former information minister Sherry Rehman on Tuesday questioned the performance of UN agencies working in the flood-hit areas.
"Since a major chunk of the donors' money is being channeled through UN agencies so there should be a mechanism to ensure the transparency," she said. While speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly, Sherry said Pakistain was already under heavy external debts, yet options for more loans were being considered for the reconstruction and rehabilitation phase. "If the government opted for more debts from the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) then the nation would be under debt of Rs 35,000 per capita," she added. |
