Moderate Muslims: Ahmaddis go door to door in Houston to say theiy're against violence

A contractor does the same, saying he stands for peace and is loyal to the country. Most Muslims are not violent extremists, they say to those who care enough to ask. Sometimes people show interest. Most of the time they take informational fliers and move on with their lives. "It's not just lip service," said Ata Ahmad, the surgeon. "We believe it. We don't acquiesce to any of these beliefs that if you're not a Muslim you should die."
They and other members of their mosque in north Harris County -- medical professionals, software engineers, business owners and store employees -- fan out into neighborhoods on Saturday evenings, pamphlets in hand as they tell each resident that they are Muslims "with a message of peace and love." "Every time a terrorist attack happens, and it's found that there's a Muslim behind it, the American public says, and rightfully so, 'Why are there no moderate Muslims speaking out against this?'" Ahmad said. "We are speaking out." The group began visiting homes in June and so far has gone to about 4,000 residences, with a goal of reaching 100,000 in the Houston area this year. Organized campaign The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, a national organization for the Ahmadiyya sect of Islam, organized the "Muslims for Peace" campaign, which has included bus signs in New York. The organization plans to reach about 6 million people with every year and so far has allocated about $500,000 to the effort. It is planning a bus sign campaign for Houston.

#4 These Ahmaddis may mean well, but they are only spreading confusion, blurring the distinction between them and 'real' Muslims. From a 2008 incident: On September 7, 2008, "Aalim Online", aired on GEO TV, incited religious hatred and violence against the members of the Ahmadiyya Community. The host of the program, Aamir Liaqat Hussain (former [Pak] Federal Minister of Religious Affairs), and his two guest panelists, Maulana Mohammad Ameen and Dr. Saeed Inayatulla, referred to members of the Ahmadiyya Community as "kafir" (infidel) and maintained that anyone who holds beliefs as Ahmadi Muslims is "wajib-ul-qatl" (deserving of death). Guest panelists referred to the extermination of the members of the Ahmadiyya Community as incumbent upon all Muslims. Subsequent to the program, religious zealots murdered two eminent members of the Ahmadiyya Community. On September 8, 2008, Dr. Abdul Mannan Siddiqi was shot multiple times and killed by extremists who barged into his medical clinic while he was attending to his patients. Similarly, the next day, Saith Muhammad Yusuf was shot and killed, also while at his workplace. Both men were leaders of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan. GEO TV is available through satellite television and over the Internet. In Canada, it is also available to cable subscribers. |

#3 If only this community was respected in mainstream muslim world because alongside the sufis there would be hope Actually the chief idologue of Sudan's genocidical junta is a suffi. Same thing for some of the most blood-thirsty pirates produced by Islam. The problem you see is that it Mulims have a book called Coran and it is the Saudis not the Suffis and still less the Ahmadis who are faithful to the spirit and letter of the book so when one of the "peaceful" (true for Ahmadis, very questionable for Suffis) tries to contradict him the Saudi only needs to open the bok, that book not even Allah can change a comma in it, and say him "Read". BTW, one of the distinguishing features of Ahmadis is that they wear Indian stylme turbans not arab style ones. In other words they don't consider Arabs to be the Herrensvolk. |
