W Va D Senate Candidate Behind And Desperate - Sues Obama About Coal
2010-10-07
West Virginia's Governor Joe Manchin filed suit Wednesday against Obama administration coal mining policies, as the West Virginia Democrat wages a fierce Senate race against a Republican opponent leading him by 5% in the polls.

Manchin on Wednesday denied any connection between the federal lawsuit and his campaign to finish the remaining two years of the late U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd's term.West Virginia is heavily Democratic, but President Barack Obama didn't carry the state in 2008 and stricter regulation of the mining industry has not improved the president's standing in the No. 2 coal producing state.

Manchin can count on support from organized labor, the West Virginia Coal Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

But the National Republican Senatorial Committee is spending $1.3 million on ads attacking Manchin. And state Republicans are preparing an effort to plant 2,500 yard signs across West Virginia reading: "Obama Says 'Vote Democrat.'"
The Democrats have been crystal clear that they want to utterly destroy coal mining, and they are indifferent to those who would be harmed in the process. This means especially West Virginians.

#3  The media people need a more subtle approach. Have the actors wear baseball caps with coal miner's creases on the bills.

#2  All forms of dependency must be focused on Islam. Coal mining is not halal.

#1  When the bulk of your constituency sits in urban areas and has no real idea of how the electricity that powers their lights, computers etc get into the buildings, it's easy to demonize one of the basics of modern existence. The people of New Orleans found out the hard way how wonderful urban life is when the power didn't show up, or clean water, or food. All of which 'magically' appeared previously for their use and enjoyment prior to Katrina. Magic as in 'invisible' like the invisible hand of Adam Smith. Socialism predicated upon coveting thy neighbors wealth and stealing thy neighbors wealth doesn't worry about where that wealth came from in the first place. It's easy to kill that which brings forth bounty.
