Seven individuals were murdered in the Mexican state of Durango in drug and gang related violence over the last seven days in five separate crimes.
- A man setting out last Friday night to buy a hamburger in Gomez Palacio was shot to death, a victim of crossfire in a gang shootout, say Mexican news reports. Jose Rodolfo Mendoza Franco, 21, was struck in the chest and died on he way to receiving medical attention. Reports do not say where in Gomez Palacio the shooting took place
- A young man was shot to death in front of his brother in Gomez Palacio last Sunday, according to Mexican press accounts. Near the intersection of calles Cuba and Transporte in the FOCE district was where armed suspects aboard a Tahoe SUV shot Angel Esteban Soto Cordoba, 20, using 9mm weapons. Both men were on foot when the attack took place.
- Two men were found shot to death on a farm road hear the Casa Blanca-San Francisco de Ocotan road in the El Mezquital municipality (county) October 2nd. Reports say several armed suspects riding aboard late model trucks shot the two using AK-47 assault rifles. Adelino Avelar Santana, 28, and Celio González MartÃnez, 30 resided in farming communities in the municipality.
- One man was shot to death and three others were wounded in an ambush in Gomez Palacio October 4th, according to Mexican news accounts. Sergio Arce Montalvo, 20, died at the scene after he was shot while driving a minivan in the Santa Rosa district with three other passengers.
- A Santiago Papasquiaro businessman was shot to death in Santiago Papasquiaro October 4th, according to Mexican press accounts. José Juan Núñez Sarabia, 35, was working at his newsstand business when four armed suspects riding a Chevrolet pickup truck shot and killed him at close range. The attack took place at the Parque Zaragoza.
- An automotive refurbishing businessman was shot to death October 7th in Vicente Guerrero, say Mexican press reports. Martin Serrano Rodriguez, 47, was shot by several armed suspects using AR-15 and AK-47 assault rifles who appeared at his business.
