20 Die in Northern Mexico

A total of 20 individuals were murdered in ongoing drug and gang related violence that included seven individuals shot to death in a residence in Juarez and a shooting spree in Saltillo, Coahuila that left one suspect dead and two others wounded.

  • Three individuals were shot to death and a fourth was abducted in Juarez Sunday afternoon, according to Mexican enws accounts. The shooting took place on the corner of calles Privada de Pino Suarez and Sierra Bufa in the Las Presas district where armed suspects shot Judith Talamantes Selene, 25, and Humberto Talamantes Enriquez, 54, and Selene's father, and José Acosta dead as they were leaving a grocery store. A fourth victim, Martin Pacheco Galindo, was wounded, and was abducted by the armed group. Reports are Selene was a lawyer and Pacheco Galinda was Selene's husband.

  • A total of nine unidentified individuals were shot to death in two separate shootings in the Campestre Virreyes district in Juarez Sunday night, say Mexican news reports. On the corner of calles Zaire and Indonesia was where two men were found shot to death in a residence. In the second crime, four men and three women were shot to death at a residence on Calle Gaspar de Sandoval. An eighth victim, a pregnant female, was also shot but survived the massacre.

  • An unidentified man was found shot to death in Juarez Sunday night, according to Mexican news accounts. The victim was found inside an unlocked residence near the corner of calles Florida and Las Vegas shot several times.

  • Two men and a woman were shot to death in Juarez early Monday morning, according to Mexican press accounts. The victims were at the Las Fuentes drive in near the intersection of calles Vicente Guerrero and Paseo Triunfo when armed suspects shot the trio with assault rifles. Reports are many others also at the drive in fled when the shooting started.

  • One unidentified man was shot to death and a second unidentified companion was wounded in an attack in Juarez Monday morning, say Mexican press accounts. The assault took place in the Del Rio district where the two victims were shot in a Ford Focus sedan by a lone armed suspect on foot. Several 9mm spent shell casings were found at the scene.

  • An unidentified man was shot to death and two Juarez traffic police officers were wounded during an armed assault in Juarez Monday afternoon, say Mexican news reports. The shooting began near the corner of Costa Rica and Malecon where unidentified armed suspects in a sedan pursued a victim and shot and killed one man and wounded another. Two nearby motorcycle police were shot in the pursuit. The wounded victim was arrested by police and held for questioning.

  • A shooting spree in Saltillo, Coahuila early Monday morning ended with one dead suspect and two wounded victims,say Mexican news accounts. Police received reports of a shooting in the Satelite Sur district about a man who was shot. Acting on information provided by the victim, police and a detachment of the Mexican Army began a pursuit of a suspect, David Rodolfo Alvizo Hernandez, 25, who went to a residence on Bulevar Venustiano Carranza and took a female hostage. As police attempted to negotiate with the suspect, he fled with his victim in a vehicle. Shooting at soldiers using an AR-15 assault rifle, the suspect was killed by return fire and his hostage wounded. Reports say Alvizo Hernandez worked for a local security company.

  • An unidentified man was found tortured and beaten to death on a highway in Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon Monday morning, say Mexican news reprots. The victim was found on Kilometer 45 of the Reynosa-Monterrey highway hands cuffed behind him.
