Tens of thousands of Islamic Jihad supporters rallied in the streets of Gaza today bellowing "Death to Israel" and "Death to America."Youths wearing T-shirts with rifle-shaped slogans carried images of dead terrorists, under the black flags of Islamic Jihad.
Ramadan Shallah, the group's exiled leader in Damascus, sent a recording marking the anniversary of the assassination of the group's leader Fathi Shiqaqi in Malta in 1995.
"Israel will not bring peace to the region, it will only bring war and destruction and therefore, the slogan of all should be that Israel must be wiped out of existence," he yelped.
Hamas leaders joined the demonstration, the largest for years in honor of Islamic Jihad. Hamas allowed the group to use its own rally ground, and Hamas provided security.
