Mexican Security Forces on High Alert Following Email Warning |
2010-11-14 |
![]() An email widely circulated is warning about the possibility of multiple shootings in the Mexican state of Morelos, say Mexican news reports. The Morelos state Secretarina de Seguridad Publica (SSP) in conjunction with the Mexican Secretaria de Defensa (SEDENA) and Federal Preventive Police announced Friday a security operation dubbed Operacion Otoño 2010 beginning in November and ending January 6th, 2011, begun in the wake of a widely distributed email threatening violence on November 29th. The South Pacific cartel is credited with the threats saying they want to clear this central Mexican state of its rivals. The email warns readers to stay out of bars, restaurants and public places on November 29th, when shootings are to begin. The email's subject uses the Spanish phrase for a curfew, toque de queda. |
