| Blast kills Afghan civilian, injures 4 |

| [Iran Press TV] At least one Afghan civilian has been killed and four others injured in a kaboom in Afghanistan's western Herat province, according to local police. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Jibrahil area, west of Herat city, the scenic provincial capital. According to local police, the victims, who were all members of the same family, were traveling through the area, when their car hit a roadside kaboom. So far, no group or individual has grabbed credit for the blast. Violence has risen to its highest level across war-ravaged Afghanistan since the Taliban were ousted by US-led forces in 2001. At least 1,271 Afghan civilians have been killed in the first six months of this year, making 2010 the deadliest year yet for civilians in Afghanistan, according to the United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society. |
