[Washington Examiner] Mexico's federal police agency says it has captured an alleged leader of a cross-border narco gang suspected in scores of killings, including the slaying of a U.S. consulate worker. Regional Security chief Luis Cardenas Palomino said Arturo Gallegos Castrellon was captured Saturday in Ciudad Juarez. The 32-year-old Gallegos is alleged to be one of the leaders of the Aztecas gang that operates both in Juarez and across the border in El Paso, Texas. Lawmen say the gang is allied with the Juarez narco mob. Cardenas says Gallegos was involved in the January killing of 15 youths at a party and he is also a suspect in the killing of five federal agents and an employee of the U.S. consulate in Ciudad Juarez in March. |
