| Yemen: Detained Al-Qaeda militant released in exchange for kidnapped doctor |

| [ADN Kronos] (AKI) - Yemen freed a man jugged a year ago on suspician of being an Al-Qaeda krazed killer in exchange for the liberation of a Saudi doctor kidnapped two days ago, according to Yemeni news service News Yemen. Yemen agreed to free Abdullah al-Daba following negotiations with gunnies who on Sunday kidnapped Thafir al-Shahran while he was crossing the border with Soddy Arabia to go to work in the city of Sada where he was director of a hospital. Kidnapping foreigners is a common practice by Yemeni tribes which seek to put pressure on the government to meet their demands. It was not immediately clear if the kidnappers' demand for the release from prison of eight other men accused of belonging to a terrorist organisation was met. The doctor was handed over to a Yemeni security official and is due to return soon to Soddy Arabia. He spent the past two days as a prisoner of the Boujibara tribe, considered an ally of Al-Qaeda krazed killers. |
