Thi-Qar intel chief escapes assassination attempt in Baghdad |

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Chief of the Thi-Qar Intelligence survived an attempt on his life on Friday, while an army soldier was killed by a sniper in separate incidents in Baghdad, a security source said. “Brigadier Ahmad Saleh survived an attempt on his life when gunmen opened fire on him near al-Muthanna airport central Baghdad,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The officer was wounded and was carried to the hospital for treatment,” he added. “A sniper killed a soldier while on duty in al-Biejiya region in al-Mansour neighborhood, western Baghdad,” he said. “Unknown gunmen blew up a building under construction in al-Taji region, northern Baghdad,” the source said, pointing out that the explosion caused no casualties. |
