Terror plot aimed at UK landmarks
2010-12-22
BRITISH security officials say a large-scale terror attack was aimed at landmarks and public spaces, as more details of the plot emerged and police searched the homes of 12 British suspects being held for questioning.

The men were arrested yesterday in the largest counterterrorism raid in nearly two years. At least five were of Bangladeshi origin.

Lord Carlile, the government's independent reviewer of terror legislation, said overnight the alleged plot appeared significant and involved several UK cities. Police have up to 28 days to either charge the men or release them.

Possible targets included the Houses of Parliament and shopping areas, according to a security official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

#3  I have been watching in eyebrow amusement reality catching up with some computer games, C&C Generals with US units for example.

Another game along those lines takes a more serious approach. Address is to a mission intro, it is in French but non-speakers I think will get the point.

#2  Of course not, Joe. They would be a delicious source of publicity and morale building if such an attack were to come off.

Those who do not wish us to wage War on Terror have not yet come to grips with the fact that even if we do not declare such a war on them, the Islamicists are quite determinedly at war with us.
