Oprah says America would've had breadlines if Barack Obama wasn't elected
2010-12-26
Oprah Winfrey says America would've had breadlines if Barack Obama wasn't elected. That overpaid queen of daytime TV is opening her mouth again--and when she does, it usually includes praise for President Obama. In a new interview with Parade magazine, the talk show queen, who recently refocused the priorities of America by denying in an interview that she was a lesbian, offers nothing but support for Obama. Winfrey says that she is pleased as can be with everything that number 44 has thus far accomplished in his first two years. Declaring that she's not been disappointed in anything Obama has so far done in office, Winfrey also took the time to scold her fellow Americans by reminding them that they should instead be grateful for everything Obama has done.

#17  with this new "food safety act" breadlines will probably become more common. Food prices will go up. You will only be allowed to buy food from a Government Approved source.

#16  I can see why she would be against breadlines. I'm certain it takes a lot of simple carbs to maintain her figure, and if they were in short supply....

#15  She obviously hasn't driven past any breadfood-bank-lines lately.

#13  Church food pantries are being wiped out at this time in my area. More people needing help than they can supply.

^^^^ That, not the folks you might think either.

#12  Ironically as all get out, this new "Food Safety and Modernization Act" law that just passed the lame duck congress, will make it much more difficult for good people to set up bread lines without a federal license and permission from the government.

How fourth world-ish of them, to deny food to opponents of the government, which is the only thing this legislation offers. Is it any surprise that it was passed by a voice vote, not a recorded vote?

#4  Breadlines and Food Stamp lines are the same thing.
Posted by: CrazyFool   2010-12-26 10:59

#3  Nope, no breadlines. But we do have this...

NEW YORK – In the United States, the number of people receiving food stamps jumped 16 percent over 2009, CNN Money reports. That translates into 14 percent of the U.S. population — one out of every seven Americans — now use food stamps to feed their families.

In some states, including Mississippi, New Mexico, Oregon and Tennessee, that number is even higher, with one out of five state residents getting food stamps. Washington, D.C., has the highest number of people at 21.5 percent using food stamps.

“The high unemployment rate caused the high participation rate,” said Dottie Rosenbaum with the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. The 9.8 percent unemployment rate isn’t the only thing contributing to the hike in food stamp usage. Some states have changed their poverty definitions, which threw the net wider on participants.

Helping fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program across the country is the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which funneled $10 billion into the program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture finds that the average food stamp user gets $133 monthly in assistance.

The Recovery Act hiked the maximum food stamp benefit 13.6 percent, which means around $20 to $24 per month per person. In addition to more people receiving food stamps, the federal government has extended unemployment benefits for 13 months.

No breadlines though.
This despicable, out of touch pig can't disappear fast enough. I don't know who's screwed up this country more, her or Barry.

#1  Nay, we'll probably get to bread lines soon, but if Zero wasn't elected we'd just let the poor starve to death.
