PA waging battle against Islamic Jihad, party says |
2010-12-31 |
[Ma'an] Dozens of Islamic Jihad members and affiliates have received summons to appear before Paleostinian Authority intelligence officials over the past week, party officials told Ma'an on Thursday. Accusing the PA of targeting members of the movement, particularly in the Jenin and Tulkarem regions, Islamic Jihad officials said the wave was an "escalation" and targeted student groups and community centers connected to the movement. One leader said the move "reflects the carrying out of the ban on any activities by resistance factions." He continued, saying targeting members of the group "creates a crisis in the national arena and does not serve efforts at conciliation," adding that "it is an attempt to deepen division." |
