The Case for Comprehensive Missile Defense in Asia

Long piece from the Heritage Foundation about establishing an East-Asia missile shield that would cover South Korea and Japan. Very timely given the provocations from Kimmie and Sonny-Boy. This is one of the first good proposals I've seen for a 21st century deterrence of aggression in East Asia.

What I really like about this is that we could remove most of our ground troops from Korea, and focus on what we do best with a missile shield plus some air assets and a continuing naval presence.

Now just expand it a touch to cover Taiwan...
China would have fits, if we took their lawful prey from them.

#1  Once again, IMO CHINA is unlikely to agree to any kind of formal INTER-KOREAN REUNIFICATION unless its own National Security is assured, e.e. that China is never again threatened by foreign invasion via the Korean Peninsula, + that the latter is closed/cordoned off forever.

China is also likely to demand that US MILFORS TOTALLY WITHDRAW FROM SOUTH KOREA, WID SAME FOR JAPAN OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE A MINIMAL, NON-NUCLEAR-CAPABLE, JAPAN-BASED US MIL PRESENCE; + that BOTH SOUTH = REUNIFIED KOREA + JAPAN [Taiwan?] NEVER E-V-A-R! DEV OR POSSESS ANY TYPE OF TACTICAL, STRATEGIC NUCWEAPONS THAT CAN BE USED IN WAR AGZ CHINA.

Also read, NUKE-CAPABLE, POTENTIAL? CONVENTIONAL, STRATEGIC AIRCRAFT, GROUND FORCES' ARTILLERY, MBTS, etc.

Iff NOT, then the US + ROK, etc. should expect China to agree to only MINIMAL INTER-KOREAN COOPERATION, MAINLY AS PER ECONOMICS i.e. the US-WEST + ROK HELPING CHINA MAKE SURE THAT STARVING DPRK ONLY HAS ENOUGH FOREIGN/INTERNAT ASSISTANCE TO SURVIVE.

Why? you say - SIMPLY BECUZ THE FEWER NORTH KOREANS THAT EXIST IN NORTH KOREA, THE MORE CHINESE POWER-CENTRIC PYONGYANG WILL HAVE TO IMPORT FROM CHINA TO ENSURE NORTH KOREA'S ECON, HENCE POLITICAL, SURVIVAL. IOW, China only gains, not loses, by the DPRK's econ troubles + the "status quo", nor does it lose by anything else be it War andor Peace - ITS NORTH KOREA, AND ONLY NORTH KOREA, PER SE THAT LOSES-LOSES-LOSES....@.

The only reason for China to support INTER-KOREAN INTEGRATION, RE-UNIFICATION at this time is to EMPOWER THE PRO-CHINA COMMUNIST MOVEMENTS IN BOTH SOUTH KOREA + JAPAN.
