Kunduz Province Cleared of Militants
2011-02-01
[Tolo News] Afghan and foreign forces have cleared the northern Kunduz province of bully boys, officials said on Monday.

After Afghan and foreign forces continue operations in Dasht-e-Archi and Imam Saheb districts, the province is cleared of krazed killers, Abdul Rahman Sayedkheli, the police chief of Kunduz, said.

Soon more than 1,200 village police will be deployed in different parts of the province, he added.

North of Afghanistan, that has been hit by Taliban-led insurgency for some time now, has been the scene of some deadly terrorist attacks that have claimed lives of a large number of people.

Security transition process is expected to begin from the north, perhaps of some gains being made by Afghan forces in the fight against insurgency.

Officials believe that there are some specific circles hugely linked to insurgency in the north.

Dasht-e-Archi and Imam Saheb districts were among the highly insecure parts of Kunduz where gun-hung tough guys were active.

After heavy operations by Afghan and foreign forces in the province, a number of hard boyz laid down their weapons and joined the grinding of the peace processor.

Afghan forces will undertake full security responsibility by the end of 2014 when foreign forces will leave Afghanistan.
