Militants Sketch Attacks in Pakistan to Destabilise Parwan
2011-02-04
[Tolo News] Militants plan attacks in Pakistain to deteriorate security in northern Parwan province, senior provincial officials in the north said Thursday.

Officials claimed to have caught many gun-hung tough guys on charges of destabilising security in the province.

Parwan residents have recently complained about a surge in Islamic exemplar activities in Ghorband, a district in northern Parwan province. They see Hekmatyar's party, Taliban and al-Qaeda network responsible for attacks in the district.

"We want the gun-hung tough guys to be rooted out. They come, kill people and return back to their havens," a resident in Parwan province told TOLOnews.

Parwan, a once-peaceful province, has recently been the scene of terrorist attacks. "There is no doubt that the enemy tries to deteriorate security in Parwan, where the biggest US troops base is located," Head of Parwan Provincial Council Zaki Zahed said.

Pakistain has long been criticised by western and Afghan officials over fueling war in Afghanistan that claims lives of hundreds of people annually. Parwan governor said Taliban received training and equipment in Pakistain and are sent to Afghanistan to carry out attacks.

"Extremists, who are responsible for bloodshed in Pakistain, are working with al-Qaeda network to destabilise our country," Governor Abdul Basir Salangi told TOLOnews.

Vice President, Marshal Mohammad Qaseem Fahim, also voiced concern about outside interference in Afghanistan. "Afghan political system is formed to end challenges facing the country. We should stand and work wisely and ignore enemy propaganda," Marshal Fahim told TOLOnews.
