Al-Qaeda Announces the Execution of High Ranking Security Official in Sa'ada
2011-02-04
[Yemen Post] Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) said on its website that they executed the Deputy Director of the Yemeni Political Security Service in Sada'a province, Colonel Ali Mohammed Al-Husam, after he admitted to spying on Mujahedeen in the previous years and arresting suspected Al-Qaeda members.

Al-Husam who was kidnapped on August 28, was accused by Al-Qaeda of running a network of espionage in Sa'ada province for 20 years and had imprisoned many of Al-Qaeda students.

Last September, (AQAP) gave 48 hours for Sana'a government to swap two Al-Qaeda detainees for Al-Husam. The two detainees Hussain Al-Tais and Mashhour Al-Ahdal, were nabbed in a checkpoint in Jawf province by Houthi group, and were then handed over to the intelligence director of Sa'ada.

Last Friday, Saeed Ali Al-Shihri, deputy leader of the Yemen-based (AQAP), said that Houthis in Sa'ada, Jawf, and Amran will face a strong war against them, calling on Sunni Mohammedans in northern Yemeni provinces to be with (AQAP).

Last year, two bombings occurred in northern Yemen with one targeting a procession on its way to celebrate religious ceremony, Eid Al-Ghadir in Jawf killing 24 and maimed several others. The other targeted Houthi followers traveling in Sa'ada to participate in a funeral, killing two mourners and wounding almost eight.
