| Kenyans screened at Uganda border |

| [The Nation (Nairobi)] Travellers from Kenya are being screened by security officers before being to proceed with their journey to neighbouring Uganda. Persons must be screened by passing through a detector erected at the main border point at Malaba. In a survey carried out by The Nation, any vehicle especially those arriving from the port of Mombasa are checked thoroughly by security officers to ensure that they don't enter with any explosives or weapons that could be used to cause chaos during next week general election. Motor bike and bicycle operators locally know as boda boda were also stopped for screening. Security has been tightened along the Uganda side as the country prepares for the vote, which President Museveni has assured will be peaceful. Last year, a bomb killed more than 76 people in Kampala who were watching a World Cup match. Kenyan suspects said to have been involved in the blast were nabbed and taken to Kampala. |
