President Obama to Meet Petraeus
2011-03-15
[Tolo News] The US President Barack B.O. Obama is to meet Gen. David Petraeus US commander of Coalition forces in Afghanistan on Monday in the White House, US officials said.

The US President meeting comes after the Afghanistan's Caped President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai, on Saturday in Kunar Province, said that foreign forces stop their operations in Afghanistan.

Hamid Karzai's strongest remarks come after the mistaken killing of nine children in foreign forces' air raid on 1st March in eastern Kunar province.
... which is right down the road from Binny's house in Chitral...

President Karzai at a cabinet meeting attended by Gen. Petraeus said that his apology was "not enough."

Both Gen. Petraeus and US Defence Secretary Roberts Gates apologized for the incident.

On Thursday a cousin of Mr Karzai was also killed during an operation carried out by foreign forces in southern Kandahar Province.

Afghan experts on Sunday warned that the country will plunge into crisis if Nato military operations are stopped.

Experts warned that President Karzai's comment will cause the Taliban to grow stronger.

There are around 152,000 foreing forces in Afghanistan 100,000 of them American soldiers fighting a war that is in its tenth year now.

The foreign forces withdrawal from Afghanistan will begin in July this year.

#11  Might be an interview.
Gates is stepping down, who better a SECdef to get votes in 2012 after pulling out of AFG in 2011?

#10  Didn't know Petraeus was a golfer...

(And no disrespect to the General.)

#9  General Petraeus I must have your honest professional opinion as this situation will come to a point of madness withing a couple of weeks and the staff at the White House is all out of options...Kentucky or North Carolina? Biden said pick the team which wears blue, and after a careful two day study it was concluded that powder blue is, indeed, a type of blue, so we are back to square one.

#8  Will Petraeus get a ribbon for this or does it fall under that General Order about putting up with whatever goofy-ass crap your commander thinks up?

#7  f he does I think State should handle the situation with troops of its own.

You mean, sort of like a mine clearance brigade?

#6  He'll probably be asking Petreaus to step aside in order that a US State Department appointee can take over.

If he does I think State should handle the situation with troops of its own.

Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer. If Petraeus is not engaged in Afghanistan he'll be drafted against Obama in 2012. He'll win. No, Obama's best political interests are to keep the man where he is. He's far less of a political threat gainfully employed at something he feels comfortable doing.

#1  He'll probably be asking Petreaus to step aside in order that a US State Department appointee can take over. Karzai is playing Obama like a cheap Louisiana fiddle. Karzai whimpers or threatens, Obama immediately shi*s himself. The promise of a US Afghan pull-out could very well be the only good news Obama will have going into 2012. Karzai holds the keys. If it were not for what is taking place at the troop levels with an absolutely and totally corrupt GIRoA (Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan), it might be fun to watch.

My assessment regarding Obama getting the US involved in Libya has so far turned out to be inaccurate. Thankfully, it appears Obama has missed the window on that one. Regretably, news out of Japan has consumed the MSM and legitimate news networks thus providing a convenient cover for Obama's dithering. Obama has returned to the links.
