| The West's brilliant plan to turn Libya into Somalia continues. Col Muammar Gaddafi was on Friday night warned that he must surrender large swathes of Libya or face military action from Britain, France and other Western countries this weekend |

| #5 Khaddafi has billions of dollars stashed in a variety of offshore banks around the world. He can afford to sit back a couple of weeks and let things stabilize around some of the rebel-held areas because then the AQ faction will start proclaiming the Holy Jihad against him. That will greatly lower the zeal for enforcing the no fly zone against him, and his connections to the world's weapons black market will let him bring in mercs, weapons, and spares to upgrade his military. Then, Al-Queada can be counted on to do something counter-productive that he can legitimately respond to. |

| #2 IMO Muammar will be more than happy to test China's Anti-CVN ASBMS, or Iran's YAKHONT TLCMS, for them. IIRC WAFF > POSTER repors that Gaddafi has approximately 413 SCUD-B'S in his arsenal. Unless he can convince RUSSIA + CHINA [Pakistan?] TO MILPOL COUNTER OR OBSTRUCT ANY US-EURO LED MOVES, IMO HE WILL CHOOSE TO CONSERVE HIS MIL ASSETS [ + Econ] AMAP ALAP, + PREFER TO ASYMETRICALLY STRIKE BACK VIA PDENIABLE THIRD-PARTY REGIONAL TERROR GROUPS + BIOWAR, CHEMWAR DEVICES. |

| #1 This is absolutely horrible. Amateur hour. This would have been over any day and now we will have a protracted money drain hole managed by armchair politicians. Yes and increased loss of life. El Quaddfi will hunker down. This man will fight back. When they have assassinated him in comes the Muslim brotherhood with Iran pulling the strings. He is many things but he will not go away quietly into the night.He must"surrender large swathes of Libya" I can hear him now- up yours!. |
