Union: Guard at Detroit Federal Bldg Neglected Bomb for 3 weeks |
2011-03-23 |
Detroit-- A security officer at the McNamara Federal Building stored a suspicious package that turned out to contain a bomb for three weeks before alerting authorities, said a spokesman for a union that represents guards at the site, who called the incident "a total embarrassment." "He apparently set it aside," said David Wright, president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 918, which represents the Federal Protective Service (FPS) employees, who guard the McNamara and other federal buildings around the country. In an apparently unrelated event, Detroit lost a quarter of its population in the past decade, as documented by the 2010 Federal census. |

#6 No doubt the security officer will now be promoted based on his seniority in the union... |

#4 And if the bomb did go off in Detroit and damage some building, would anyone notice more damage amongst the existing Zimbob-like rubble. |

#3 Union work rules in effect? In a not-so-unrelated hypothetical event, if a bomb *did* go off in Detroit, would there be anyone to hear it? |

#2 It doesn't sound like a very effective bomb... Another Pakistan-trained MBA, perhaps, like the Faisal the Fizzle Bomber of Times Square fame? |
