Algeria constitutional revisions begin with press reform |

[Maghrebia] Algeria's Council of Ministers on Monday (May 2nd) approved a draft amendment to the Penal Code that decriminalises press offences, APS reported. In another press reform move, Algeria will also launch a large-scale campaign to train and support journalists, Algerian President Abdelaziz ![]() ... 10th president of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third term, which is probably why Algerians are ready to dump him... said Tuesday in a speech marking World Press Freedom Day. On Monday, Bouteflika appointed senate speaker Abdelkader Bensalah to lead a new constitutional revision panel. The committee will meet with political parties, unions, and other civil society actors to discuss the proposed Algerian constitutional amendments. |
