A senior Iranian politician has warned against Western countries' efforts to cause a rift between Iran's relations with regional countries, urging Arab states not to pursue policies of the US and its allies."Arab countries should be cautious not to play in the court of the US and extra regional powers," said a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Hossein Naqavi Hosseini on Thursday.
"Western countries, led by the United States, intend to sow discord in ties between Iran and Arab states in the Persian Gulf. They are pursuing the policy of Iranophobia to cause a split between Iran and its neighbors," he added, Majlis news agency (ICANA) reported.
The Iranian politician emphasized that regional issues "have nothing to do with extra regional powers" and called on Arab countries to show prudence in countering such plots.
"Neighboring countries should be cautious about such conspiracies which are aimed at causing tension in the region and avoid preparing the ground for their divisive measures," Naqavi Hosseini concluded.
