US Stops Vessel Carrying $180M Worth of Cocaine |
2011-08-02 |
The U.S. Coast Guard says its crews helped stop a submarine-like craft filled with $180 million of cocaine in the western Caribbean. Similar crafts regularly smuggle drugs along Central America's Pacific Coast, though U.S. and Honduran authorities said this was the first time such a vessel was intercepted in Caribbean waters. |

#5 What they don't mention is that they never send just one sub. Probably about 5 at a time. And $3000 a key is more like the bulk rate price by the time it gets to Mexico. |

#4 Or $26,430 for a kilo which is more reasonable. That seems what the Coast Guard is declaring for "street value". |

#3 An FBI dive team recovered nearly 7.5 tons of cocaine, which were turned over to U.S. law enforcement. That's $26.43/gram. Try buying for that price on the streets. |

#2 So that's what, like the street value of a pound and a quarter of cocaine, FBI estimate? I figure they use the same mathematicians as the government uses in calculating budget cuts. |
