| Opposition Commander Escapes Assassination; Government calls it Fabrications |

| [Yemen Post] Military commander colonel Hameed Qushaibi beat feet for the second time this month an liquidation attempt on his life in Amran province, 70 km north of the capital Sana'a, opposition media reported. Qushaibi is one of the first military leaders to defect from the government and is working on having Amran province fall in the hands of revolutionists. Opposition parties in Yemen condemned the attack on Qushaibi and called on the international community to stand firm against the Saleh regime and its attempts to kill those who oppose it. Tribal coalitions in Yemen also condemned the attack on the colonel. This comes as government media outlets rejected Qushaibi's liquidation claims and stressed that residents in his area are against him due to his oppression. The outlets said that Qushaibi continuously attacks innocent civilians and that people were expected to go against him and seek Dire Revenge™. They insisted that such claims by the opposition are efforts to damage the government's reputation and fabrications. |
