Arabia
Abaya made compulsory for Pakistani women pilgrims
2011-10-03
[Dawn] Upon the directives of Saudi Authorities, Pak women cannot perform Hajj this year without wearing Abaya.
Just because Saoodi wimmin can vote in meaningless local elections and (one day) drive a car openly doesn't mean that they're going to extend these rights to other Muslim wimmin...
The Ministry of Religious Affairs took notice of Pak women pilgrims without Abaya and issued notices to the National Airline and Directorate of Hajj. The notice said that the airlines will face penalty of 5,000 Saudi Riyal and suspension of Hajj director if the condition of Abaya is not fulfilled.

The measures were taken after a flight carrying women pilgrims to Soddy Arabia yesterday without Abaya. Consequently Saudi Authorities urged Pakistain to follow the dress code for women pilgrims.

#1  If the women aren't encased in black potato sacks there's just no way to keep those Saudi menfolk under control and it's the women's responsibility for preventing such problems. Sort of like in New York City, where short skirts are to blame for r*pes (I saw that recently someplace.)
