At least one unidentified individual has been killed and another is missing as elements of the Mexican Army fought armed groups in the streets of Saltillo, Coahuila Tuesday morning, according to Mexican news accounts.

Gunfights were reported in Mirador, Valle Poniente and Escorial de Ramos Arizpe colonies in Ramos Arizpe and Saltillo municipalities.

The fighting began around 1000 hrs when an army detachment exchanged gunfire with armed suspects. Shootings continued throughout the area. The army unit was supported by a military helicopter.

In a separate incident around 1100 hrs on Bulevar Morelos armed suspects travelling aboard two late model pickup trucks fired weapons at passengers riding aboard an extended cab pickup truck, sparking a pursuit and an exchange of gunfire. The firefight ended when the extended cab pickup crashed into a utility pole near Motel La Fuente.

The article translation suggested the drivers of the two pickup trucks closed on the location and the shooters presumably finished off their victims.
