Colonel Potted in Aden |
2011-11-19 |
[Yemen Post] According to security sources in the southern Yemeni sea-port city of Aden, a high ranking military officer would have been killed on Wednesday evening in a surprise attack. The government is already suspecting al-Qaeda of being behind the assault as the group has been increasingly targeting officials in the region over the past few months. Colonel Abdul Hakimal-Qahdi was killed when a group of unknown gunnies opened fire onto his vehicle in the Cairo neighborhood of Aden. Eye-witnesses revealed that they had seen 2 gunnies approached the Colonel's vehicle, shooting several rounds directly at him. Hakimal-Qahdi died instantly. Such attacks have become quite common since Yemen is suffering a worsening security situation with gangs being allowed to roam freely as the government is struggling to maintain its "head above water" so do speak. |
