Pol Sr Sgt-Major Tuwaehami Nihae, 49, was gunned down at 7 a.m. in Pattani province as he parked his motorbike at a food stand in front of a morning market. Two terrorists men on a motorcycle approached and the terrorist gunman, riding pillon, shot the policeman three times before fleeing with Tuwaehami's 9 mm revolver. Police suspect that the killing was carried out by terrorists insurgents.
In Pattani's Ma Yor district, the police and a bomb squad inspected a military base where suspected terrorists insurgents launched an M-79 grenade attack on Tuesday night. The wall of a school was damaged and Sgt-Major 1st class Somprat Srivaja, 34, sustained a head injury in the grenade blast. The terrorists insurgents also fired a grenade at the house of a village defense volunteer Maleepeng Hami, 34, located 1 km from the school. The bomb damaged the roof slightly and killed a cat.
