2011-12-29 |
A man dressed in an Afghan army uniform today killed two NATO service members after turning his weapon against them. NATO has not yet revealed the nationalities of the service members who were killed in eastern Afghanistan. There is also no word on what happened to the attacker. Afghan officials said today's explosion destroyed a police pick-up truck as it passed through Zarghun Kalay village in Helmand's Nad Ali district. The officials said the officers had left a training center and were headed home when their vehicle struck the bomb. Police chief Haji Abdul Marjan said they drove along the same road every day, and that eight of those killed were new recruits. |

#2 From Deutsche Welle "During a support mission with the Afghan National Army (ANA) in the Tagab valley, the two non-commissioned officers were mortally wounded by deliberate fire from an Afghan soldier," said a memo issued by the office of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The two soldiers shot in Kapisa province by a man dressed as an Afghan soldier were French nationals and members of the French Foreign Legion, as confirmed by the French government on Thursday. |
